Supervisory Responsibility For:   Teachers and Support Staff

Important Functional Relationships:  Senior Leadership Team, Teaching Colleagues, Trust Colleagues, SEN Teaching Assistants, Parents, Multi-Agency Teams

Curnow School is an outstanding school and a founding academy of The Special Partnership Trust, a multi-academy trust in Cornwall which is striving to provide a consistently high quality standard of special education across the region.

Curnow School caters for 104 pupils aged 2 - 19 with severe or profound learning difficulties as well as a number of students with autism. Our younger students attend Curnow Lower School (a purpose built provision based on the same site as Illogan Primary School) and our secondary aged students attend Curnow Upper School site in Redruth.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspirational and energetic Deputy Headteacher. The successful applicant will be an exceptional SEN teacher and leader with proven skills to support our continued success in providing an outstanding educational provision.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Have passion, vision and determination to inspire the teaching and support staff to deliver the highest levels of learning to meet the special educational needs of the children and young people at Curnow School. An ambitious, inspirational partnership of outstanding learning
  2. Have extensive classroom experience and in-depth knowledge of SEN and interdisciplinary working, enabling pupils to make outstanding progress.
  3. Be highly successful in supporting children and young people in managing their emotions and challenging behaviour to positive outcomes.
  4. Be passionate about improving the outcomes and life chances for all our pupils and their families.
  5. Be an experienced team leader able to demonstrate the ability to motivate, challenge and inspire staff and children through excellent interpersonal skills.
  6. Be able to work in partnership with the Headteacher, the Trust and Governors to continue to raise standards through a shared vision.
  7. Be excited by the opportunity to work within an outstanding, enthusiastic and dedicated learning community. We are committed to safeguarding children and the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and will be assessed against the Childcare Disqualification Regulations.
