Attention Autism

Attention autism is a therapeutic programme developed by specialist SALT Gina Davies. It is a social communication therapy that focusses on developing communication, interaction and attention and learning skills.

Attention autism aims to create a situation in which everyone in the group is motivated to attend to what is being shown. We use limited repetitive language alongside objects and movements to develop concepts of what objects are called.

Attention autism is split into 4 stages, in the first stage we focus on, engaging with enthusiasm, anticipation and sharing fun times.  The second stage aims to sustain attention over a longer period of time. Stage 3 We focus on turn taking and shifting attention to the group and then to individual participation. Stage 4 Focuses on transitioning from a group to working independently then coming back to the group.
