Hello my Dearest Caramel Drizzled Pumpkin Feet!

May I take this opportunity to introduce myself to those who may not have ventured near, or heard of, the country of Randomland, and may not have come across the obscure goings-on we Randomites engage in every day.

My name is Reg (Random Excitement Generator) and I work for the Department of Randomly Distributed Unusual Gifts, where I and my colleagues co-ordinate various prize draws for human peoples.

We operate from a large cave in the foggy mountain area of the far western desert of Randomland, using our steam driven ‘super collaboration computer’ to generate random winners of the most amazing, and sometimes unusual (!) prize gifts for different people, such as the lovely staff at Orchard Manor School.

The prizes our team of negotiators secure are legendary, as they scour the long-distance sacred trade routes, first trodden by one of Randomland’s forefathers ‘Edmond Iron Jelly pencil nose’ for the gifts that humans crave.

Every week we receive a coded communication relaying the names of all the current staff working at Orchard Manor. This information is fed into our super computer, which randomly generates five lucky winners each week, who receive a most wonderful surprise item.

We are sometimes instructed to add select information pertaining events or occurrences within the Randomland population, or descriptions of the composition of our gifts, to further our unique standing within the nations of the world.

Our directive, from our President Cyrus Shoehorn III, is to attempt to provide joy and humour to human people and to bequest gifts for their enjoyment. Any sadness or "unjoy" is not intended and totally accidental and therefore we hope our communications are received in the manner they are intended.

Much fondness and snuggly cuddles

Reg x

A busy week no doubt and probably on a par with the strange goings-on at this year's Randomland 'Nutty November Exposium', which highlighted several new ideas for next year's Olympic Random Games such as Cross-Country Parrot Racing and Haddock Hurling, (ohhh! That created quite a crisis in the adjacent swimming pool as some of the launched haddock landed near Caracticus the one eyed Scandinavian Bull Seal as he was being coached for the three-finned, blindfolded, 100m egg and shovel race .... It was a furious fish feeding frenzy that cannot be described!!)

Well! Not much to report from Randomland this week. It's been quite quiet. Actually, I suppose Mrs ‘Eugenie Leatherette-McFlowerpot’s’ attempts to bribe the local planning officer when he turned down her application for a helicopter landing pad in her bath, did cause quite a stir at her local blancmange sculpting club meeting!

Quite windy and wet by all accounts, much like our own 'Shamus McBrasshandle's' impression of the Moldovian Blue tailed Pigeon's mating routine - quite illuminating in a biological sort of way! But certainly wet with a good measure of wind!

We have had a fairly mundane week at Randomland HQ, only the weekly marble snorting competition at the 'Kings Toenail' pub being anything of note and only because Fergus 'Elephant Nose' Smythe managed to get his 403 marbles stuck during the first round and spent the next hour sitting in the car park with a pressure washer blasting into his other nostril.

Apologies from the Randomland crew this week, for the delay in sending our carrier pigeon transported communications, but we have been on a jolly nice excursion to our capital city ‘Randon’, for our annual umbrella dancing festival.

It was a most enjoyable weekend, so many teams, all displaying synchronised routines, spinning and twirling a multitude of coloured umbrellas to the ‘newly discovered’ music from your human archive, from trending artists such as ‘Mr Beethoven’ and ‘Signor Vivaldi’? Who do seem to be ‘down on it’! Am I correct?

Well, the winners this year were a team of Camel repair workers from the far north of Randomland, who's routine, to Beethoven’s 73rd Symphony in E Minor, dazzled the judges when they added whipped cream and artichokes to Bartholemew ‘Mountain features’ Braithwaite’s umbrella - as he held all eight of his teammates (suspended from their umbrellas from his right earlobe) – just amazing and worthy winners.

It is so nice to be back on the air-waves and chatting with all of you lovely Orchard Manor people. It seems quite a while, with the distant memories of the summer holidays and a couple of computer-related inter-web issues with your school’s technology systems, we at Randomland have missed you enormously. BUT!! Now the clever IT fixer people have re-connected to our Randomland steam-driven Commodore 64 computer (deluxe 1974 model!!). We are back in business!

Apologies firstly, to those new staff, who may question the sanity of this email communication and may have already pressed the ‘Dustbin’ icon. Please be assured that this is a …..Genuine!! OMS Related Narrative! And secondly, the previous volumes of Reg emails have yet to be recovered from wherever they are sitting, all tingly and fluffy, waiting to be re-read. So we at Randomland may have forgotten the protocol, the past winners and the extreme high quality of previous prizes!!
