Governors

The Governing body is a committed and dedicated team of hard working professionals from all parts of our local and wider community.

We are a varied group including local business people, parents, educationalists and other professionals. It is our responsibility, in cooperation with the schools Executive Principal, to provide the support and structure that enables students to have the highest standards in both their education and care.

The Governing Board has three core responsibilities:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

We have a very clear vision statement that is reviewed regularly to reflect the ongoing development of our school.  Our vision, mission and aims provide the direction for planning and policy.

The Governing body is responsible for ensuring policy and practice are both effective and efficient.  We are kept informed by the Executive Principal and senior team about finance, staffing and pupils.  This ensures that we are up to date and aware of how the school is performing and any issues that are arising.  All issues are discussed and decisions made accordingly for the good of the school.

It is our responsibility to ensure that the school is well run and organised to meet the needs of the individual students in our care.

We are a strong and committed team, offering our collective experience and expertise through guidance and support to enable the on-going development of Orchard Manor School. Our unifying thread is our passion for Orchard Manor School.  We are excited by the innovative and high quality education and care that Orchard Manor provides for the young people in our community and the wider community of Dawlish.

As a Governing body we are here to nurture this growth and ensure the continuity of the high level of provision made by the school.
