OMS Dance Crew at the Youth Sports Trust Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony

Many of you will have seen in the latest newsletter that the OMS dance crew recently embarked on a mini UK tour. The first ‘gig’ was at the International Conference Centre in Telford, Shropshire. They performed their dance piece ‘ I am the Child ‘ at the Youth Sports Trust Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony . It was a huge honour and well worth the 10 hour round trip. We stayed at the Edge Adventure Centre and for many it was their first time away from home overnight. We are so proud of them taking such a big step out of their comfort zone to represent our school.
The pupils ranging from 10 to 16 years old took to the stage in front of over 400 delegates from the world of sports and PE and their dance piece caused many a tear in the audience. Not only that, they got the most sensational standing ovation. It will be a moment none of us will ever forget.
The icing on the cake was that our AMAZING PE team, Catherine, Steve, Ian, Harley and Rich, won the Building Belonging Award and we were there to watch Catherine and Nicola accept their prize. It was a very emotional evening !
Watch this space for more on the OMS Dance Crew’s UK Tour, which continued last week in Ashburton, where they performed their piece at the Let’s Dance Festival 2026. The tour will culminate on the 24th of March at Plymouth Argyll stadium – another PE conference ! Next stop … Wembley Arena ???
