Provision:

The Discovery Pathway - are pupils with ASC and are developing their cognitive abilities. The curriculum is based on the core subjects linked to the National Curriculum while also spending more time learning key life skills to support their transition into adulthood.

This pathway is designed to provide a well-structured and organised learning environment that caters to the unique needs of pupils. These environments often feature lower levels of stimulus to promote focus and reduce sensory overload. The approach is blended, incorporating zones of learning and continuous provision, allowing pupils to engage in both structured and flexible learning activities. Group learning opportunities are also available, fostering social interaction and collaborative skills.

Staff within the Discovery Pathway are highly skilled and knowledgeable at operating within a Total Communication environment to support pupils' communication to develop functionally.

The staffing ratios are designed to reflect the pupils' learning needs. While pupils are encouraged to work in groups, significant individualised support is still provided throughout the day. Additionally, individualised equipment and resources are available to support personalised learning experiences as appropriate.

Overall, the Discovery Pathway aims to create a supportive and adaptable learning environment that meets the diverse needs of pupils, helping them to thrive academically and socially.
