At OMS, the intention behind our Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, is to provide a comprehensive, sequenced curriculum that equips pupils with essential knowledge and skills to lead confident, healthy, and independent lives. The PSHE curriculum is tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students, addressing sensitive issues in an age-appropriate manner, promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion. Furthermore, we aim to foster pupils' spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, promoting positive relationships and mental well-being.

Our PSHE provision takes a structured approach that integrates PSHE across the whole school curriculum, ensuring continuity and progression in learning. This includes dedicated PSHE lessons, cross-curricular links, and opportunities for pupils to apply their learning in real-life contexts. Emphasis is placed on interactive teaching methods, including role-play, discussions, and participatory activities to engage pupils and promote active learning. Moreover, we provide training for staff to deliver high-quality PSHE education effectively.

The impact of PSHE provision is evident in the outcomes achieved by pupils. They should demonstrate a deep understanding of key concepts related to health, relationships, personal finance, and citizenship. The impact should be seen in their ability to make informed decisions, manage risks effectively, and exhibit positive attitudes towards their well-being and that of others. Moreover,  PSHE provision will contribute to creating a positive school ethos, where pupils feel safe, respected, and valued. Evidence of the impact can be observed through pupils' behaviour, attitudes, and achievements, as well as through feedback from parents, staff, and external stakeholders.

In conclusion, by aligning the intent, implementation, and impact of PSHE provision with our school values, pupils are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to navigate the complexities of the modern world confidently and responsibly.
