Teaching Assistant Post 16 (Work Related Learning Support Assistant)

Due to our pupil numbers increasing, we require a Post 16 Work Related Learning Support Assistant to join our innovative and expanding specialist provision. We are looking for individuals who have experience of working with children and young people in either mainstream or specialist education settings.  We particularly welcome applications from those with a passion for working with young people with SEN however experience of working with children is not essential as full training and induction will be provided.

Salary: £23,600 per annum pro rata, £17,065 actual

As our new Work Related Learning Support Assistant, you will be taking students in our Post16 provision to off-site work experience locations and whilst accompanying them, you will provide support and encouragement.  You will be our students’ advocate throughout their work experience introduction period, helping them learn job-specific tasks and ultimately helping to secure employment and adapt to their new roles. 

Your role within P16 will also be to help to develop and implement effective coaching strategies by assessing the individual student’s wants and needs, including providing information and guidance for suitable career paths. 

You will work and coordinate with employers, helping to negotiate customised job responsibilities for our students.  Our ultimate goal is to empower our students to perform job functions independently, without constant one-on-one assistance and give them the skills needed to go into the workplace on their own.

A Full, UK, Manual Driving Licence is essential as you will be taking our students to their work experience placements.

Working hours are 30.83 hours per week / 39 weeks per annum.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken and written aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
