Hello Yellow

We joined thousands of people wearing yellow across the country to stand out and show up for young people’s mental health this week on 10 October 2023 with  #HelloYellow.  The "Hello Yellow" campaign aims to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues and encourages open discussions about mental well-being, especially amongst children and young adults. It emphasises the importance of providing support and resources to those who may be struggling with mental health concerns.

"Hello Yellow" is a campaign initiated by the mental health charity organisation Young Minds in the United Kingdom. The campaign is designed to raise awareness and support for children and young people struggling with their mental health. The central theme of "Hello Yellow" is to encourage individuals to wear something yellow and engage in activities or events to support and promote mental health awareness.

The campaign is typically associated with World Mental Health Day, which falls on October 10th each year. Participants in the campaign are encouraged to wear yellow clothing or accessories and to organise events or activities that promote conversations about mental health. By wearing yellow and engaging in these activities, participants show their support for young people facing mental health challenges, and the colour yellow is used as a symbol of hope and positivity.

We follow the 10 a Day for Mental Health within our school on a daily basis, making sure that our staff and children balance their mental and physical health.

So many of our children and staff entered into the spirit of Hello Yellow Day and the day was filled with conversations and activities focussing on mental health, and we even had some yellow-themed food for lunch!

All donations made from this day will be sent to Young Minds.

Have a look at this fantastic video made by our Expressive Arts Teacher - Flo - who took pictures of everyone dressed in Yellow.
