Ofsted Rated Good for our Residential Provision

We are delighted that our residential provision is now judged as ‘good’ overall for the experiences and progress of the children and young people.

As part of OFSTED ‘s regular inspection of residential provision in schools, two inspectors spent three days at Orchard Manor from 4th to 6th February. We have now received their report and are pleased to attach a copy.

We are delighted that our residential provision is now judged as ‘good’ overall for the experiences and progress of the children and young people.  The inspectors were rigorous in their inspection - they met children, parents and staff, visited the residential houses and scrutinised policies, processes and procedures.  They commented positively on the relationships they observed between children and staff, and the evident 'warmth and affection' shown to the children.  They were impressed by the range of activities on offer for the children and the homely environment, described as being ‘like that of a happy family home‘.

They also identified some areas for further improvement related to development and embedding of processes and procedures.  The Governors and the Senior Leadership Team are committed to implementing these further improvements as we strive to achieve the highest standards and we appreciate all the hard work and commitment shown by staff to improving the experiences and personal development of the children and young people at Orchard Manor.
