Our Residence

We believe at Orchard manor that our student’s journey extends beyond the classroom and we encourage, empower and inspire our students to reach their full potential by providing them with an exceptional residential experience.  We are a highly qualified, stable and supportive team, who have high aspirations for our students and treat each young person as a unique individual in an environment that fosters independence, personal growth, and a sense of belonging.

Welcome to our Residential Experience!

Within these pages, you'll discover valuable information to provide you with insight into the residential experience at Orchard Manor. Comprising a dedicated team of 9 staff members, the 'Care Team' at Orchard Manor is committed to delivering the very best care and support to our residential students.  All staff are qualified or working towards their Level 3 Care Certificate. The Residential Head of Care and Team Leaders all have, or are working towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management certificate or the equivalent.

The residence provides a supportive environment for young people who may struggle to engage in education, or who need additional support to be able to meet their full potential. Initially, the residence provides a secure base to help meet the needs of the young people – we provide security, healthy meals, sleep, routines, and additional support where needed.

Many of the young people we support in the residence struggle with transitions and may struggle at home for a variety of reasons.  We find that by providing the wrap around support of the residence, we see a reduction in negative behaviours, and an increase in educational engagement.

The Care staff support their educational colleagues by being part of the behaviour/learning support team. The teams work closely together to support the young people, and they build secure positive relationships with them. This in turn enables our young people to feel confident in themselves and to act as individuals, whilst successfully learning to live in a social and inclusive setting.

Hopefully, the following pages will give you an idea as to what the Care Team does at Orchard Manor and how we help support our young people.
